Academic Advisors plant the seeds that start students’ academic growth. Collaborative efforts of many experts – advisors, faculty, career counselors, student affairs professionals, and technology specialists – are needed to provide the fertile ground that will assure growth and bring it to successful fruition and maturity.
We encourage you to consider giving a presentation or organizing a panel discussion in an area that may enhance the advising success of others. Whether your presentation comes from years of experience or you are a new advisor with innovative ideas, you will be a vital part of this conference.
Some topics may be:
- Using technology in advising
- Assessment of academic advising
- Intervention for students at risk or on probation
- Integrating new advising models with existing ones
- Parents, FERPA, legal, and ethical issues
- Advising students suffering grief and loss
- Other topics related to advising
Proposals should include your presentation title, learning objectives, desired format (i.e. lecture or panel) and AV equipment needs. Titles do not need to incorporate the conference theme. Please include a brief abstract describing your presentation and the desired learning objectives. Abstracts will be included in the conference program and on the conference website.
